Annual Report 2023
Editorial
Dear readers,
Welcome to our annual report in a new guise. We hope it gives you an insight into our work and the political conditions that shape it. Among other things, we tell you about how we have dealt with the sharp rise in antisemitism since 7 October 2023. We also outline our position on current issues and debates in short opinion pieces about topics such as what memorial work looks like in times of political radicalization. At the same time, we shine a light on some exemplary projects from our different departments, such as:
- The publication of the digital Book of the Dead for Bergen-Belsen concentration camp (page 26)
- Our educational programme on antisemitism and discrimination in sport (page 30)
- A workshop discussion on the question of whether education can make reparations (page 38)
- The presentation of a citizen-science-project on the sites of Gestapo terror (page 45)
There are also interesting overviews of projects receiving external funding, such as Competence against Antiziganism (KogA) and Ferman. And starting on page 49, we share news from the regional memorials in Lower Saxony.
You can find out more about many of these topics simply by clicking the links that will take you to more in-depth content. Our Annual Report 2023 is available in German and English. For sustainability reasons, we have decided to continue issuing the report digitally and only print a few sample copies.
I hope you enjoy reading about the work of our Foundation!
