Directions to the place of remembrance at the loading platform
The place of remembrance at the loading platform with its historic railway carriage is located about six kilometres from the former Bergen-Belsen concentration camp on the L298/Belsener Str. between the village of Belsen and the town of Bergen. The exit from the road to the platform is marked by a metal sculpture by Hanoverian artists Almut and Hans Jürgen Breuste. It is not possible to drive through to the memorial wagon. Buses and cars must be parked in front of the loading platform barrier. Access to the wagon is via a footpath.
Directions to the Bergen-Belsen Prisoners of War (PoW) cemetery
You can reach the cemetery on foot from the memorial site via an unpaved path in approx. 15 minutes.
By car: From the memorial in the direction of Bergen, after approx. two kilometres follow the signs for “Sowjetischer Kriegsgräberfriedhof” Soviet War Graves Cemetery) and turn left towards Meißendorf, Hörsten, Panzerringstraße, coming from the north turn right after the Lower Saxony barracks. After approx. one kilometre you will reach a stop sign in the village of Hörsten with the direction sign "Sowjetischer Kriegsgräberfriedhof". Turn left there. Follow the road and pass an armoured car wash. After a wide bend to the right, the road forks.
