The radicalisation of anti-Semitism has not abated since 7 October 2023. Hatred of Jews and projective hostility towards Israel have destroyed civilisational inhibitions.
Radicalisation affects perceptions, emotions and language, it changes public and private communication. It threatens the safety of Jews. Distortions of reality, hatred, violence and indifference damage and restrict public, professional and private spaces.
How was and is it possible to criticise anti-Semitism in this situation? What questions arise for historical and political education? What challenges do schools and universities face? What impact do current developments have on democracy and security?
What strategies are we developing with regard to disinhibited anti-Semitism and to what extent does anti-Semitism and its denial put a strain on alliances that we need to defend democracy?
We want to think about this together in a panel discussion. We are seeking dialogue with civil society actors, memorial work, historical-political education, democracy education in schools, universities, authorities and associations in Lower Saxony.
The invitation is also extended to all interested parties. After the panel discussion, there will be an opportunity for further dialogue and networking over refreshments.
Please register at perspektiven@vhs-celle.de by 17 November 2025, please.
