Tasks
Monika Brockhaus has been working as a research assistant at the Bergen-Belsen Memorial Centre since February 2012. She develops formats and content for international encounters with a focus on Israel. She supervises and advises German-Israeli groups as well as multiplicators who supervise these groups. She is also responsible for designing the Bergen-Belsen Memorial's training programme. She coordinates, designs and organises training events aimed at teachers, study seminars and multiplicators in the field of education.
Monika Brockhaus holds a master's degree in history and Jewish studies. She studied History and Jewish Studies at the Free University of Berlin and the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. After graduating from high school, she did a year of voluntary service in Nes Ammim, Israel. This was followed by further stays in Israel, including intensive language courses in Modern Hebrew (Ivrit). Alongside her studies, she worked as a memorial educational counsellor for groups as part of the "AG Jugendarbeit in Bergen-Belsen" in the Landesjugendring Niedersachsen e.V. From 2010 to 2012, she worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Jewish Studies at the Free University of Berlin.
