Responsibilities
Isabell Leverenz has been responsible for coordinating the Partnership for Democracy between the Bergen-Belsen Memorial and the town of Bergen since 2025. The programme, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth as part of the ‘Demokratie leben!’ initiative, supports initiatives that promote democratic participation, strengthen diversity and counter extremism. Previously, she worked on the FERMAN project run by the Lower Saxony Memorials Foundation, an educational and documentation project on the genocide against the Yezides.
Isabell Leverenz studied cultural studies in Lüneburg and Genoa. In her work, she focuses in particular on racism and the associated social structures.
